Former Wide Recipient and Professional Football Hall of Fame Michael Irvin expressed his opinion on Brock Purdy‘s magical first career begins in the NFL. The last pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the lights went out in his first career start when he went for 185 pass yards and a total of 3 TDs.
Talking to Stephen A. Smith, Dan Orlovsky, and Molly Qerim about First Take, Irvin compared Purdy to GOAT Tom Brady. “It had that Tom Brady vibe” said Irvin. Irvin said the 49ers’ system is working perfectly and he thinks they can make it to the Superbowl with quarterback Brock Purdy. Stephen A. Smith quickly stopped Irvin from boarding the Niners main carriage and reminded him that he had already chosen the Cowboys to go to the Superbowl from the NFC.
Irvin immediately pointed out that he didn’t say the Niners would beat the cowboys, he just stated that the Niners were a talented enough team to go to the Superbowl. “I’m not saying the Niners beat the Cowboys, but I’m saying they have a talented enough team to go to the Superbowl.” said.
The Niners (9-4) currently hold #1 in the NFC West division and have nearly secured a playoff spot. While this Niners team is full of talent all over the field, Super Bowl hopes ultimately depend on how well Mr. Irrelevant can play.

Brock Purdy makes history at First NFL Start
The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by 28 points on Sunday. Rookie Quarterback Brock Purdy made history as the First NFL QB to beat Tom Brady at the start of his career.
The Iowa State quarterback was selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He started the season as a quarterback in the 3rd series, following Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo. Purdy started his first NFL game against the Buccaneers on Sunday after Lance and Garoppolo fell to the ground with injuries.
Purdy impressed everyone with his spectacular performance, completing 76.2% of his passes, 16 of 21 passes and two goals for 185 yards. He made history as the First QB to beat Tom Brady in his first career start.
As injuries continue to pile up at the Niners camp, Mr. Irrelevant has given the Niners loyal members some hope of keeping their Super Bowl dreams alive.
The San Francisco 49ers and Brock Purdy will look to maintain their dominance and extend the team’s 6-game winning streak this Thursday when they face NFC West division rivals the Seattle Seahawks.
