“I didn’t expect this”: Carson Wentz applauds comments from Colts owner Jim Irsay describing his time there as a “mistake”

Carson Wentz walks on thin ice in the league. The quarterback hasn’t had a great season since his sophomore year in 2017 when he led the Philadelphia Eagles to an 11-2 record. Wentz had a completion percentage of 60.2, passed 3,000 yards, and had a 33 TD. The following year, he was on track to earn MVP as he had over 3,000 passing yards and a 69.6 completion percentage with a total of 21 TDs. Unfortunately, he was eventually injured, which led to Nick Foles replacing him and leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl before winning them all.

In 2019, Wentz hasn’t always been the same, though he set a career-high 4,039 with 27 tank destroyers and a 63.9 percent completion percentage. He was eventually traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, where Wentz was not the Eagles draft. He was last traded to Washington Commanders.

In an interview recently Colin Cowherd, Carson Wentz spoke about his initial thoughts and reactions to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s characterization of his term with the team as a “mistake”. said, “I mean that’s it, everyone has their own opinion, I thought last year was a fun year, I thought we did some amazing things, in the end we fell short.”

He enjoyed his season and time with the Indianapolis Colts organization, but he did not see these comments from the owners, thinking that everything was fine between him and the team’s top management. Wentz also admitted to his flaws and admitted that he didn’t have his best season last year.

“I struggled with the tension there and the timing was poor, I didn’t expect things to develop as they were and I thought things were in a pretty good place there, I had great relationships with each and every one of them. I can’t say enough good things about the person in that building, the people there.” Added Wentz.

Clearly, the quarterback moved on and didn’t have strong feelings, he doesn’t believe there was any bad blood between him and the Colts, he concludes. “He has his own opinion and has the right to do whatever he wants with the football team.”

Wentz is now a Commander, and all eyes are on him as this is his last chance to prove himself as a worthy starting quarterback in the NFL.
