Former Green Bay Packer and now Raider Davante Adams caused quite a stir in the NFL earlier this week. Star expansion claimed that former Fresno State teammate QB Derek Carr is just as great as 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
This statement did not sit well with NFL fans. They beat Adams on Twitter for comparing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time to Derek Carr, who has yet to win an end-of-season game.

Davante Adams refused to play in the franchise tag for the Packers, which caused him to leave Green Bay and reunite with college teammate Derek Carr in Las Vegas. As the Packers were unable to secure a new contract for Adams as they had literally run out of money after paying Aaron Rodgers, Adams decided to look elsewhere and his unique bond with Carr led him to relocate to Las Vegas.
Adams recently compared Carr to Rodgers and even went on to say that both QBs are equal in size. “When it comes to talent and talent, it’s really similar. If I actually hold it, they throw the ball much differently. Not many quarterbacks can get you this before you get to the sideline, having two guys with really strong arms and understanding the game, the mental part of the game is another similarity they have. They’re both obsessed with it and know everything that’s going on there.” Davante Adams explained.
“Aaron won a Super Bowl, MVPs, I didn’t do that” Carr told Bri Mellon: ABC30. “But I think, just in terms of talent, I don’t think people realize how close the gap is between everyone else in the NFL. The margin of victory for every game is that close. Frankly, if you want to compare résumés, I didn’t win the awards. But in terms of talent, we all just go out and … I understand what Tae is saying and I appreciate that, but the respect I have for Aaron and Aaron knows I still have a long way to go in this conversation, as I’ve told him many times.”
In terms of success, Derk Carr doesn’t even come close to Aaron Rodgers. The Packers QB has 1 Super Bowl, 4x NFL MVP, and countless other records under his belt that have always made home great. Derek Carr has been a good quarterback so far, but he has yet to win a Super Bowl or MVP award. During his eight-year tenure with the NFL, Carr made only one playoff, and lost that game. Still, it should not be overlooked that Carr finished 3rd in the 2016 MVP voting. He would have won had it not been for the injury.
At this point in his career, Carr may not be considered the greatest of all time, but he is only 31 years old. As the Raiders undergo a leadership reshuffle and Josh McDaniels takes the reins, perhaps Carr can rise to the same levels as Rodgers. While it’s a little hard to say, the 2022 season may surprise everyone. Let’s wait and watch how Carr fairs!
