How to Turn Off Windows 10 Lock Screen Ads

There is an option on your Windows 10 lock screen that you can change to turn off ads. We first saw a Windows 10 lock screen ad for Rise of Tomb Raider back in February 2016. This is how you can turn off Windows 10 lock screen ads. It takes a minute at most.

If you’ve opened your Windows computer and seen Lara Croft with a bow and hook on a mountain, you’re looking at an ad on your computer’s lock screen.

You need to log in to your computer and then open the Start Menu. You should see an option to click on settings. If not, click the Ask me anything box and type settings.

On the main Settings page, click on Personalization, which will take you to the main settings you need to change.

On the left side of this screen, click on Lock Screen and then look for the drop-down menu under Background.

Changing these options will prevent Microsoft from placing ads on your Windows 10 lock screen again. We’ve seen this option on Amazon’s discounted Kindle and other Amazon Fire tablets, but it’s a first for Windows 10.

Windows 10 update is free so this is something users might be more willing to accept, but with this change you no longer have to deal with ads on your Windows 10 lock screen.
