Overwatch 2 settles into the DPS level list meta, and we’ve spent a significant amount of time with each of the seventeen DPS heroes, getting a pretty good understanding of what’s good and what’s bad. The damage role is the flashiest and most popular, and since there’s one less tank on the field, they’re empowered to have more gameplay and a greater impact than Overwatch 2’s predecessor. Most Overwatch 2 characters and roles have changed a fair amount, so there’s a lot to take in.
We’ve taken the stance of coming to this Overwatch 2 DPS level list from the average player’s point of view, so while Top 500 and Overwatch League pros may evaluate heroes a little differently, they play a much more coordinated game called shooting. unsuitable style for most players. What works at these levels won’t be things you can reliably climb Bronze and Diamond with. If you want to beat these ranks, we’ve compiled a list of Overwatch 2 damage characters that we think are the easiest to do. To help you and your friends coordinate, there’s also an Overwatch 2 tank level list and an Overwatch 2 Support Level List to help you get an idea of other options in the game.
The best DPS heroes to play like in Overwatch 2
- S: Wait, Genji,
- A: Sombra, Ashe, Soldier 76, Tracer, Grim Reaper
- B: Echo, Widow, Hanzo, Cassidy, Pharah, Mei
- A: Bastion, Junkrat, Torbjorn
- D: symmetry
As for what’s generally great in the Damage role right now, there are Overweatch 2 heroes with high mobility as well as Tanks and Supports. D.VA and Winston are excellent tanks right now, and Lucio and Kiriko are moving and getting close on the battlefield. That’s why characters like Genji, Sombra, and Tracer run in circles around the players.
However, that’s only half of it. With one less tank on the field, there are far fewer damage dealers and prey to get in the way of. As such, ranged heroes are great as they can do more damage than overall security. Sojourn is currently rebelling and is one of the strongest heroes in the game, Ashe, Soldier and Widowmaker are also very powerful options.
As with Overwatch 2 though, use the level lists as general recommendations rather than gospel. If you’re on good terms with Junkrat and you’re seeing success, you should stick with what works for you. That said, if you’re feeling a little lost on what to play, we’re here to offer some suggestions.
guest
Sojourn is the newest DPS and it is doing extremely well. It can one-tap enemies after reloading the railgun shot, which is very easy to do. Add to that his extraordinarily good move and it can be the biggest force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. He’s one of the best heroes in the game right now, and even a strong candidate for a nerf or two.
Genji
Genji is currently enjoying the spotlight as he flies out of the gates. He benefits greatly from the reduction of his crowd control abilities. Dive comps are generally strong right now so the side heroes are doing great and Genji is enjoying it the most. Without the stun, the cyborg-ninja has little to pierce through weaker targets.
sombra
Sombra has seen a rework in Overwatch 2, which means she can stay invisible while hacking and is a silent assassin rather than a blocker like before. It’s now a threat to backgrounds everywhere, so if you want to be the reason why Zenyattas and Anas stay up at night, Sombra is for you. He’s an excellent winger right now and his hack is an added benefit and above all else he can interrupt abilities. He may not participate in fights if he needs to teleport out, but Sombra has a lot of potential right now if you know what you’re doing.
ash
As with Sojourn, Ashe benefits greatly from the loss of a shield. Because there are fewer paths, it blocks his shots less and makes him a threat if he’s accurate. He can take over the games if he finds the right angles and BOB remains a great ultimate. While few heroes can do as much as Ashe and are prone to dives, the ram gun and crew can usually save her.
soldier 76
Soldier 76, or more commonly Legs, enjoys clearer sightlines along with all the other hitscan characters in the game. His ability to run makes him perfect for getting around, and built-in movement is king right now. While Shields and D.VA can still absorb a lot, their Ultimate usually has an easier time to find value. That said, the Soldier feels like an all-around strong pick that can do damage and make you a little more self-sufficient.
audience
Some people out there think that Tracer isn’t that good anymore as it’s a slight damage nerf. These people are wrong. In a fast-flowing meta like what we have right now, it can be a threat to support and back rows everywhere. It functions very similarly to Sombra, but has slightly more stamina and generally more damage in combat.
reaper
The Reaper is a bit of a sleeper pick right now and can be used as a ram for your team. While it can’t keep up with most of the best compositions, it doesn’t have to. With just a tank and a shotgun spread on the enemy team with a buff, you can smash the enemy’s key player and also with the delicacy of being able to get out of situations if you’ve put in too much effort.
Echo
Echo is a meticulous character as always, and a harder, more technical character to confuse, especially if you’re new to Overwatch or returning to Overwatch. It suffers a little from the plethora of hit scans, but if you can use its outstanding kill time, movement, and ultimate ability, you’ll be the bearer of your game.
widow
Widowmaker depends on several factors, most importantly, can you click heads? Like other accurate sweeps, Widowmaker can take over the battlefield with a tank lacking in the field, but it’s a juicy dive target. If the enemy team employs heroes like Winston, Sombra, and Genji who can reach him, he can be caught very easily with no way of defending himself.
churl
Hanzo is in a good place overall right now. It can do a great job if you need burst damage from range, and also when there’s less of a tank around, a stray arrow has a much higher chance of getting head. However, he’s rather immobile and can’t fight at a safe distance as someone like Widowmaker, meaning fast heroes who are great at the moment can usually reach him, which can force him to shoot very hard under pressure. .
Cassidy
Cassidy is perhaps the least inspiring ranged hitscan character (other than Bastion), but that doesn’t mean she can’t do great. She needs to be a little more involved than just saying Ashe, and she can’t escape like the Soldier, but if you’re adept at getting headshots, she’s a threat. The new sticky grenade is also a great way to kill an enemy you hit in the head, meaning it can win one-on-one very quickly.
pharaoh
Pharah is often like betting against the enemy team. If you’re sure they don’t have a large ranged hitscan player and you’re right, you’ll go crazy as the enemy team desperately scrambles to retaliate against you. However, if they do, you will be quickly sent back to the respawn room. It both benefits and suffers from the loss of a second tank because it stands in the way of spam fire much less, but at the same time, ranged characters evolve as well.
mei
Mei lost her ability to freeze opponents with her left click, but in return she gained a massive damage buff to her spray. This makes it work almost like a flamethrower now, and if the enemy team gets together, you can inflict a horrendous amount of damage. His ability to use icicles to destroy enemy heads is still strong, and his ultimate is great for securing a few kills. Its biggest issue right now is a meta issue, it’s not a perfect match against what’s very good at the moment as enemies are usually more spread out and moving fast.
Zodiac sign
Bastion saw a rework in Overwatch 2, making him a more active character than before. You can now move in turret form on a timer, and there’s a fun grenade that players can use to detonate it or use it as a movement tool. However, Bastion’s new ultimate (now fixed) is one of the worst DPS ultimates in the game, and has so much mobility that he’ll need an entire team to protect him if he’s going to live long enough to deal the big damage he can do. of-of.
Junkrat
Junkrat has a playstyle that could work. If you like to use your Concussion Mines to fly in the sky and constantly reposition, it can work and be an absolute threat to the enemy team. However, this is a very risky game and you can easily put yourself in too much danger. While tanks like Zarya and D.VA are in good shape, the damage it deals can be defeated or worse, used against itself in the form of a charged Zarya. If you’re a Junkrat one-of-a-kind who knows all the moves, go for it, but overall, it feels risky versus strong right now.
Torbjorn
Look, Torbjorn can do great things, especially at low levels. If the opposing team doesn’t have a tank that can reduce Tower damage, the enemy’s health will flash continuously. His Ultimate is also great for field rejection. However, with less hulls on the way, it’s usually pretty easy for a ranged character to override their turret, and without a turret it’s usually pretty dull.
symmetry
Unbeaten, Symmetra feels a bit lost in Overwatch 2. He tries to charge his beam as fast as possible with fewer shields around, and no more Assault maps in rotation, he struggles to create defensive setups where he excels. He can sometimes find purchases in Control maps, but right now he probably feels like the worst hero in the game – even outside of the DPS role.
