“I’m sure the headlines could get much better than this” – Dinesh Karthik criticizes the ECB after ignoring Rishabh Pant’s volatile century

India goalie kicker Rishabh hit a ton on Day 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham in the rescheduled fifth Test against England on Friday, 1 July. He released the score at a time when India was astonishing at 98/5.

He did 222 runs on Day 1 before Rishabh Pant took the stage and was sacked by Joe Root alongside Ravindra Jadeja. Pant finished his century with just 89 balls. He hit 146 hits out of just 111 balls and India finished Day 1 with a strong 338/7 score, while Jadeja had 83 points.

The England and Wales Cricket Board headlined “Joe Root sacks raid Pant” during highlights of the English match against India. This caught the attention of Dinesh Karthik, India’s senior wicket keeper.

Karthik took to Twitter to express his opinion on the same issue. He wrote, “After such a gripping, captivating daily game, I’m sure the title could be so much better and on point than this @ECB_cricket. This kick by @RishabhPant17 is that the quality of test cricket played by both sides is as good as it gets, and that’s how you sum up a day.

India v England match so far

Previously, England had won the draw and had chosen to go bowling because of the weather. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah is leading the team in the absence of India’s regular captain, Rohit Sharma, who was kicked out of Test after testing positive for Covid-19.

Day 2 started with a ton more from Ravindra Jadeja as Jasprit Bumrah played a cameo and quickly smashed 31 series out of just 19 balls. He scored 29 points in an overshoot Stuart WideDone broke the legendary Brian Lara’s 28 runs. Also, Stuart Broad conceded 35 runs in an over, setting an undesirable record for most expensive over in the Test.

In the end, India scores 416 points and leads the Test 2-1. If they win this Test, it will be the first time since 2007 a series win on British soil.
