LG’s new flagship G4 smartphone is its best device ever. It features a large and bright 5.5-inch 2k resolution display and the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop, along with a stunning 16-megapixel camera and handcrafted genuine leather backs that cover the removable battery and micro SD slot on the back.

We’ve already detailed 11 excellent cases for the LG G4, but that was before we tried the latest Urban Armor Gear case with military-grade certified drop protection designed specifically for the LG G4. The case is simple in every way it should be, but you’ll want to keep reading for more details.

There are plenty of excellent cases for the all-new LG G4, and that’s only possible if you’d rather get a regular plastic model instead of one of six beautiful handcrafted leather options. There are many options when it comes to protection for the LG G4, but not everyone wants a bulky wallet case with a built-in battery or kickstand and just wants full protection in a beautiful design. It’s hard to find a case that’s well-made, durable, and light enough to protect your device but still enjoy using it. The case consists of a feather-light composite construction with a durable-looking and extremely rugged design, a soft impact-resistant core, a non-slip reinforced grip and reinforced corners for additional drop protection. The case actually meets military drop test standards and they claim you can drop your phone from 1.8 meters and protect every aspect of the G4.

UAG has made its edges highly textured so it’s easy to hold but still comfortable, and the faux metal strips on the back are actually soft rubber, but add to that unique tough guy look. It may not be for everyone and I didn’t think I would like it but this is my new favorite LG G4 case and the one I used last week.

Since the LG G4 has all the buttons on the back, the design doesn’t need to have fancy tactile buttons and instead the whole case is strong; At the top are simple cutouts for the microphone and IR sensor, then for the charging and 3.5. mm headphone jack holes at the bottom. The ports are oversized to allow the largest USB chargers and angled headphone jacks to be easily plugged in anyway.

While the back may seem like a lot, it’s actually pretty comfortable to hold. Soft rubber screws act as little braces to prevent scratching the back, and the aluminum UAG logo is a nice touch too. Overall, I am really impressed with the sturdy, lightweight, durable yet stylish design this case offers. All for just $34.95.

As we mentioned above, the corners feature a second layer of hard composite plastic that offers twice the impact resistance when dropped, and the soft inner core picks up any lingering grunts in the event of a drop or mishandling. You can see this at the corners in the image above, as well as the slight lip surrounding the entire frame. This protects the screen from drops and lifts it off the floor or table when lying face down.

If we had one complaint about the UAG LG G4 case, it would be how soft the fake screws on the back are, as they tend to pick up dust and dirt pretty quickly.

The military-style look may not be for everyone, and if so, there are plenty of boring and simple TPU cases out there. For those looking for something with a bit of flair and at the same time offering as much protection as possible in an all-around great package, the UAG LG G4 case is worth considering.
