The latest Snapchat update offers more than just a new look, it includes poor battery life for many users on iPhone and Android.
The Snapchat update on July 13 included a New Stories screen and also brings heavier usage that can drain your battery very quickly. If your iPhone and Android battery life has dropped significantly this week, Snapchat may be the problem.
Users also complain about the added data usage and the new design that puts Discover front and center and can delay the loading of snapshots from friends.
We’ll go over what users are saying on Twitter about Snapchat Update issues, including bad battery life, and also what you can do to fix this issue on your iPhone or Android without waiting for another update.
Snapchat Update Bad Battery Life Complaints
Snapchat update brings bad battery life and other frustrations.
Users are unhappy with the Snapchat update this week, and poor battery life is one of the biggest complaints. Here is an example of complaints from Snapchat users on Twitter. Some users are also annoyed by the extra data usage, something that pissed users off in February 2015.
Both updates @Snapchat terrible 84% usage of my CPU this week. It overheats my CPU to 122 degrees and uses 37% of my battery life.

Hey @Snapchat, will you fix what you broke with the “update” yesterday? Your app is pretty crappy now.

The complaints on Twitter date back to long before the latest Snapchat update, but we’re seeing it reports The charge of phones like the LG G4 drops to 28% after being turned off for three hours.
Snapchat Discover Makes Users Angry
In the new Snapchat update, the Discover section is front and center. This change doesn’t bode well for users who are upset about how it changes location and how Snapchat is used.

One of the frequently asked questions is how to hide the Snapchat Discover section but so far if you don’t like the feature there is nothing to do but ignore it.
How to Uninstall Snapchat Update
You can downgrade to the older version of Snapchat for better battery life and old layout, but that takes some time.
Uninstalling the Snapchat update on Android is easy, but on iPhone you can only do it if you have a backup of the old app on your computer.
How to uninstall Snapchat update?
On Android, go to. This might take you back a few versions, but it may be necessary if you don’t plan to uninstall Snapchat until an update is available that will fix this issue. Individual steps may vary from one phone to the next. For Samsung Galaxy S6 and other Samsung Galaxy smartphones, the steps are as you see above. In others, you can go to Application Manager by default.
On iPhone, you must connect to your computer and also sync a copy of the app with your computer before updating.
First, delete the Snapchat app on your iPhone. Now connect to iTunes and backup and Sync but don’t check for app updates.
Once the sync is complete click on your iPhone, then apps and then tick the box on Snapchat. More detailed instructions are available from: iPhone FAQ.
