Leaks and rumors about Samsung’s upcoming new Galaxy S7 smartphone have been everywhere as of late, but this weekend received Our first real look at the front of the Galaxy S7. This new image reportedly confirms previous reports and suggests some minor changes to Samsung’s flagship smartphone.
Reports started to surface about the new Galaxy S7 in September, but we learned a lot of new details over the past month and throughout December. But French site NoWhereElse has leaked an image showing the phone’s front panel. Read on for more details.
In 2015, Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in April, followed by the Note 5 and the larger Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with a 5.7-inch screen in August. We’re hearing at least three Galaxy S7 versions are coming for 2016, but there won’t be as many changes as expected.
Above is reportedly the first real photo of the Samsung Galaxy S7. Or at least the front panel or glass that will cover the 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display like the Galaxy S6. All rumors so far have suggested that the design will be nearly identical to last year’s, but with an improved camera and internals alongside minor software and hardware changes. But it does point to a few minor changes that most people didn’t expect.
This image, which overlaps with previously leaked case images, shows that Samsung’s edge-to-edge display will have very thin bezels, keeping the physical size of the new Galaxy S7 to a minimum, not to mention a redesigned home button. As you can see, the home button is skinny, long and thin. More rectangular compared to the shorter and rounded edges of the 2015 Galaxy S6 and Note 5.
Users can still expect a fingerprint scanner on the dedicated hardware home button, but it could be removed entirely in favor of Samsung’s new Iris (eye) recognition technology for unlocking the phone, making wireless purchases and more. This was a detail that emerged from reliable sources last week.
From the photo above we can see that the fingerprint scanner and home button have changed, the sensors and front camera have been moved to the top right to make room for the new eye scanner. It will instantly unlock the phone while doing everything the fingerprint scanner of previous phones had to offer and more. That is, if the rumors are true and Samsung is finally rolling out the tech in the Galaxy S7.

However, we don’t have too many details apart from leaks and rumors. From what we’ve heard, the Samsung Galaxy S7 may come in three different variations, but it looks remarkably similar to last year, despite minor changes to the home button shown above.
If all the reports and rumors are true, users can expect a 5.2-inch Galaxy S7, a 5.5-inch curved Galaxy S7 Edge, followed by a massive 6-inch Galaxy S7 Plus. All may come with a powerful octa-core Snapdragon 820 processor with Quick Charge 3.0 technology, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a micro SD card slot (maybe) and an improved 16-20 megapixel BRITECELL camera.
We hear that Samsung will announce and launch the Galaxy S7 in February, exactly two months before last year’s model. We’ve seen a similar early release with the Galaxy Note 5 arriving in August 2015 instead of October. If true, more details will continue to emerge all month long before the inevitable February launch and launch. Stay tuned for more details.
