Concretely, developers will need to comply with each country’s legislation regarding content suitable for young audiences. Google adds that the app in question complies with regulations in one region but not in another, so it may still be available in the first region. Developers have until May 11 to comply with this new regulation. Some will be given an additional 30 days.
Google wants to better protect children in the Play Store
Google then hones in on different areas where developers need to ensure their apps are suitable for a younger audience, such as incitement to hate, false claims, and even advertising programs. Therefore, for certain applications, complying with the legislation in force in different countries is a real headache, especially considering that this new regulation came at the last minute.
This new regulation is a continuation of Google’s desire to make the Play Store a safe and quality place for users. Recently, the web giant has mandated that developers prioritize latest versions of Android to avoid installing outdated apps. Additionally, the platform recently displayed the required Android version for each app.
