As the summer continues, more manufacturers are busy rolling out the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update, and that includes HTC. We’ve seen a lot of progress from HTC over the past month and they’ve started rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop for the new One M9. Here’s what owners need to know.
The HTC One M9 was launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop in early April and has since received several maintenance updates aimed at fixing features, improving the camera and more, but not Android 5.1 Lollipop. While Samsung and LG are busy rolling out Android 5.1 and Android 5.1.1, we haven’t heard from HTC yet until two weeks ago.
It looks like July will be the month when HTC rolls out the highly anticipated bug fix update to its latest device. In June HTC One M9 Android 5.1 Lollipop update leaked to the press and several custom ROMs were released with all the changes and new features. But for the millions of regular car owners waiting to upgrade, we have more good news for AT&T and other carriers today.
A major software update came in the first week of the HTC One M9 release in April, followed by another update in May to improve the camera and extend battery life. However, much more is coming with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Since the HTC One M9 was released, along with many other smartphones from other manufacturers, it has been fraught with minor issues due to issues with the original Android 5.0 Lollipop version. Google quickly rolled out multiple updates including a massive boost to Android 5.1 and then again Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
Android 5.1 and Android 5.1.1 update fixed tons of issues that were bothering all users. Basically, it’s a memory leak issue that causes apps to slow down, freeze and eventually crash. Not to mention tweaks, quick settings, quick toggles, do not disturb and volume controls, general security improvements, and bug fixes in the notification pop-up bar.
