Gmail: web version changes appearance, making room for Material You

Gmail-Material-You

Earlier this year, Gmail’s web interface underwent a major revamp. Google changed the design and layout of its interface to allow its users to more easily switch between inbox, Chat instant messaging, or Meet meetings. And without having to switch between tabs or windows.

This system, which allows you to quickly switch between applications from the same page, has greatly facilitated the lives of Gmail users who want to successfully switch from an important e-mail to a meeting, for example. This breath of fresh air has impressed most users of Google’s messaging service, and the American company recently announced a new update of the Material You skin.

A simple button, icon and color change rather than a radical redesign

The new features aren’t that outstanding and are mainly about the redesign
colors and shape of the interface. For example, read emails are displayed in blue, while unread emails remain in white. Just like the buttons and sidebars with blue touches in this new look.

Finally, Google decided to group Chat, Meet and Spaces applications in a new panel on the left. Shortcuts to their services are much more optimized for the situation, allowing professionals to save time, especially when they have to join a video conference meeting.

This new view will be available to Gmail users by default in the coming days. Google explained that this is a phased rollout and it may take a few days for your interface to change on its own. Already have it? Feel free to share your opinions about this new look in the comments!
