While Google’s wireless Pixel Stand looks great, it’s very expensive at $79. As a result, we’ve gathered a list of great options that offer a similar experience for much less money. And yes, that includes “fast wireless chargers.”
Some wireless chargers are under $10 but don’t provide “fast wireless charging,” meaning your Pixel won’t charge that fast. That’s why we recommend spending a little extra on an officially approved accessory or buying something made by Google.
Google’s Pixel 3 and 3 XL models use the Qi Wireless charging standard. This means that almost any charging pad you buy will work, and on newer vehicles the built-in wireless charging will work too.
But buying the RIGHT wireless charging pad for your Pixel 3 will make a huge difference in how fast it will charge. This is because certain wireless chargers only provide 5 or even 7w of power (like the iPhone X), which takes longer to recharge your battery. Google’s Pixel Stand provides 10 watts of power that makes wireless charging work twice as fast.
There are several “fast wireless” charging pads on the market as most Samsung phones support higher speeds and 10w. Unfortunately it seems these don’t work with Pixel 3. For whatever reason, Google limits fast charging and 10w output to official accessories and all other 3rd party chargers only supply 5w. That may change with a software update in the future, but for now, only two chargers provide higher speeds.
