Earlier this year, Google announced that it was preparing A major overhaul in Android Auto. The Coolwalk update will allow the interface to change the design and take on a more modern look, but best of all, it’s more customizable. Indeed, this more dynamic interface allows you to separate different applications on the same screen and better adapts to different screen sizes.
The idea was to make essential apps and features more easily accessible with just a tap, allowing drivers to better focus on the road. We’ve been looking forward to the new release for a few months now and Google has finally started rolling out the redesigned interface in beta.
New interface will let you see more apps in Android Auto
The current iteration of Android Auto is a single screen based on what you’re using, be it Maps, Spotify, Phone or whatever. But with the update, the new home screen has three tiles: Maps on the left two-thirds of the screen, direction choices and your music player splits the third on the right.
Users will also be able to resize the map, allowing it to fill the entire screen if they want to better visualize their route. The split interface is much easier to navigate while driving and remains consistent. you can always wait your navigation app is on the left closest to the driver.
Additionally, other parts of the system have been updated to modernize Android’s Material design and UI elements and layouts. Google Assistant’s music and media recommendations can now also be accessed by simply swiping the media card from the dashboard. Finally, it may be noted that old status icons and notification center bell combined.
