Since the arrival of the Galaxy S5 in 2014, fingerprint readers just democratized under Android and the trend is not ready to stop with the imminent arrival of two new Nexus and Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Prize. With the last few exceptions, biometric identification is reserved for high-end models, except that there is now an app that can “convert” your smartphone’s photo sensor into a fingerprint reader.

App Lock Finger Print application, released a few days ago on the Play Store, aims to turn your smartphone’s photo sensor into a fingerprint reader. On paper everything is very good and the principle is good, but after doing we tried the experience ourselvesWe are not really convinced.
When you start the application for the first time, you have the possibility to enroll the fingerprint of the desired finger by clicking on the “Finger Enrollment” option. Then you choose which finger of which hand you want to register directly on the screen and the process begins.
A minor issue is that you need to have a photo sensor powerful enough to take a quality photo. Also, the environment must be bright enough for the sensor to focus properly. On our part, we had to go back several times.
After focusing, the app takes seven photos of your fingerprint. This will then be saved and will allow you to lock access to one or more specific apps.
If you want to use this app to make your life easier, it can complicate it even more. the The registration process remains complex and the fact that you have to keep your finger 10 centimeters away from the photo sensor of your smartphone is not very practical. However, if you want to try this experience, you can download the app for free from the Play Store.
