Atmospheric phenomena have always intrigued humanity. After all, who wouldn’t be surprised by strangely shaped flying objects, strange green lights or other things that to this day remain without a logical explanation?
Obviously, even if some facts do not have an explanation, this does not mean that they are dangerous, much less that they are something supernatural.
This is simply a phenomenon that has not yet been properly studied or that requires further investigation. One such case is the strange green lights that were captured in the sky over Japan in the second half of last year.
In September 2022, cameras located on Mount Fuji in Japan captured images of some rays of a mysterious green light. Immediately, the images intrigued Japanese scientist Daichi Fujii, who was responsible for positioning the cameras.

Fujii intended to use the cameras to monitor the passage of meteors, but he came across a completely new phenomenon.
Logically, the astronomer took these images to other colleagues in the profession, as well as to the famous NASA. It was precisely by NASA that the great mystery of the green lights was unmasked, all thanks to Tony Martino.
But what are these lights after all? We answer this question by asking another: what is Tony Martino’s job? The NASA astronomer is responsible for the mission that uses the ICESat-2 satellite as its main tool for studies.
This satellite was launched in 2018 and is tasked with measuring the height of ice sheets and oceans, all done from Earth’s orbit.
“But how?”, you might ask. ICESat-2 uses lasers (green) so that several calculations can be made about the reflection response time, that is, for something positioned just above, the height.
In other words, the mystery that remained in the air for about seven months was nothing more than a study carried out by NASA. However, Martino still highlights that visualizing these lasers is an extremely complicated task.
After all, these lasers shouldn’t be visible to the naked eye. However, there are some very specific conditions under which you can see them.
Logically, these conditions were present in September of last year. This is because, in order to be able to see them laterally, there needs to be something to cover the light, or cloud it.
Thus, there were several thin clouds formed over Mount Fuji on that date. Below, you can see the green rays that puzzled scientists for so many months!
