The US has already tested biological weapons in its own cities; understand

The development of chemical weapons has been a common practice over the years, and although it is not widely reported, it is possible that powerful arsenals exist hidden away. In the past, testing after development was not as well-received as it is today.

In the 1950s, something surprising happened in San Francisco, United States. Several people were taken to the hospital with similar symptoms, such as pneumonia, fever and severe vomiting.

Researchers sought to understand what was causing this epidemic, and discovered that a bacteria called Serratia marcescens was responsible.

However, its manifestation was not common, which ended up raising more suspicions. This is because, until that moment, no one in the city had been infected, and suddenly, several people were contaminated in a single day.

The situation worsened when one person died from the infection: Edward J. Nevin, a 75-year-old man. However, after the initial outbreak, everything seemed to return to normal and there were no further cases of contamination.

The most plausible explanation at the time was that it had all been a coincidence. However, years later, it was discovered that on that day there was something different about the fog that hung over the city.

In fact, the fog was contaminated with a substance containing various bacteria, released into the air by a Navy ship that passed through the region. The aim of this experiment was to assess how prepared the city was to face a possible chemical attack.

But of course, San Francisco was not the only city to be exposed to such bacteria. Other locations, between 1949 and 1969, ended up becoming vulnerable due to the spraying of such poisons that were potentially dangerous to the health of residents.

According to historical records, the United States has conducted a total of 239 biological warfare experiments, spanning 66 U.S. cities as well as some Canadian cities. Approximately 80 of these experiments involved the use of live bacteria against the population.

Initially, the project was planned to continue, but this changed with the entry of President Richard Nixon, who requested the suspension of all experiments and the end of the United States’ stockpile of biological warfare agents.
