This technology is very simple and straightforward. This is because there is a chip inside the ball that sends a signal to the referee’s watch, confirming whether or not there was in fact a goal.

The technique began to be officially used in 2014, at the World Cup held here in Brazil. There’s no denying that it makes it much easier to find out whether a goal was actually scored or not, greatly helping the referees.

2. VAR – Video Referee

This is the most well-known and has even become an internet catchphrase. This is because VAR (Video Assistant Referee) is a technology that uses numerous cameras positioned around the stadium and helps the referee to check the most varied plays, especially when there is some doubt or disagreement between referees and linesmen.

Technology helps to understand and keep the game fairer and cleaner, as its well-positioned cameras capture the image. Therefore, if the referee is in doubt about a play or foul, he can check the images and give a clear position to know what was or was not valid in the play.
