It seems like fashion has really caught on! O Disney+ will copy Netflix’s strategy by introducing a lower-cost subscription option, but with the insertion of advertisements in its productions. Scheduled to be launched in November in the European region, the date for its availability in other territories, such as Brazil, remains undefined.
Following its launch in December 2022 in the United States, the platform is gradually expanding to other countries. This new subscription option will follow the quality standard of the Standard option, offering video transmission in 1080p and audio in 5.1 or stereo format.

Plan with ads will have limitations
Despite maintaining good video transmission quality, this ad-supported option will not enable download of content, restricting viewers to watching productions only through streaming.
In other words, those who opt for the most expensive plans will have access to all available options, while those who choose the most economical plan will be subject to some limitations.
And it seems that Disney+ already has its chosen ones to implement the new feature. In addition to the United States, other countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark are also on the list. As the user base grows, we can expect the expansion of the new feature to other countries.
It is quite common for companies to start their tests in the United States and Europe to evaluate how the new products will be received in these locations. This serves as an initial indicator, so if the results are positive, it is likely that this new plan will arrive in Brazil soon.
The approach is clearly inspired by the model adopted by Netflix. Additionally, Disney+ also wants to restrict password sharing at some point in the future, although the next territories to receive this offer have not yet been announced.
