Future of technology: Microsoft announces AI backpack – see how it will work

After the enormous success of ChatGPT and artificial intelligence (AI) robots around the world, Microsoft began development of a smart backpack prototype earlier this year.

According to information released by the company itself, the patent application was forwarded to the United States regulatory agency in May this year and was recently approved.

According to the company, the new smart backpacks will incorporate cameras, microphones and speakers into their structure. In addition, they will have a processor, storage and internet connectivity.

The company also highlighted that this device will have the ability to recognize objects in its surroundings and access data stored in the cloud. Additionally, you can perform tasks such as scheduling calendar reminders and checking the prices of items around you.

The manufacturer’s objective is for this backpack to act as a type of “wearable virtual assistant”, with the ability to understand and recognize different contexts. Therefore, the device will be able to identify the environment in which it is located based on commands issued by the user.

If someone is using the backpack in a supermarket, for example, it can be used to compare the prices of products on sale or check the prices of those same items in other stores nearby.

Additionally, according to information provided by Microsoft, the backpack will also be able to perform more complex tasks, such as providing safe guidance when your users are skiing, for example.

This data is forwarded to artificial intelligence software to be interpreted through speech recognition and natural language processing.

The artificial intelligence then responds to the request, which can be a direct response to the command sent or a request for additional information before completing the action.

No information was released about the start of production of either the backpack or the components that will accompany the model. Microsoft. Furthermore, so far, a possible launch date for this device has not been revealed.
