HTC 10 Nougat Installation Issues

The update should come as an easy-to-install wireless software file. Accept it and let the phone do its thing. At the same time, installation issues are something we hear about regularly. Most should have it by now, but if not, you can install it manually. files like this.

If you haven’t received the HTC 10 Nougat yet or it freezes while trying to update, a few things might help. First, use a stable and fast WiFi connection. Once you start downloading and updating try restarting the phone and no apps running. Or as a last resort, factory data reset can help. It will delete everything but the phone will have a clean list to work with with the update.

HTC 10 Battery Life Issues

We see this over and over with almost every major software update. Users complain about battery life. Nougat needs to make it better, not worse. Our own results were promising, but not everyone can say the same.

Things may be worse for the first few days or weeks. As users enjoy the phone more, the settings are tested and everything falls into place. If you’ve had the phone for a few months and the battery life is still bad, something else may be at stake.

If this isn’t the Android system or screen, something might be causing the battery to drain unusually. Try reinstalling the application. Other things like Bluetooth and WiFi might be the culprit or the battery saver mode is not working like before. If you are using battery saver features, make sure they are still installed or enabled.

At the same time, a bug with gmail sync and other things tied to Power Saver mode, so if you’re having weird syncing issues make sure battery mods are turned off.

Nougat Version Missing

At this point those in the United States should be enjoying Android 7.0 Nougat on the HTC 10. Well, except for Sprint, which has just started shipping this to its owners. If you haven’t already, try going to Settings > About Phone > Software and checking for updates.

But those in Europe have probably seen a similar situation. It was canceled on January 26 after being released many times. The company relaunched to the market on February 7-8, but sometimes it can take about two weeks to arrive.

So while most US owners should have it or will get it soon, other regions should all be done by sending an update. If not, stay tuned to places like Twitter (follow Graham or MoVersi) for updates and additional details. Graham confirmed that the European version was re-released on February 7.

HTC 10 WiFi and Bluetooth Issues

Both WiFi and Bluetooth are two things we see after every software update. A minor bug is known in Nougat that causes certain devices and accessories to not play well with Bluetooth. If you have problems with your car or accessories or Bluetooth, try a few simple solutions. The first is simply restarting your HTC 10.

We always recommend unpairing and repairing any Bluetooth device. A similar process for forgetting a WiFi network is also a good idea. Re-pair all accessories and reconnect to any home router to fix these issues. Additionally, unplugging a router or WiFi modem for 1 minute and then reconnecting it may help.

Also, popular apps like WiFi Analyzer can help you find other potential problems.

HTC 10 Sound Problems After Nougat

The most common complaint we see in the HTC 10 Nougat version is about the sound. And unfortunately, we’re not really sure how to fix this. we hear voices are unstable, lock screen sounds not working, speaker only sometimes available and more. Random incoming and outgoing calls have no sound. Turning it off and trying again usually fixes the problem. Users can also try turning the speaker off and on to get it working.

At the same time, multiple users are stating that their Live Wallpapers are missing or not working. These are weird little bugs and we may have to wait for a bug-fixing Nougat update from HTC to fix them. As of now, we don’t have any clues regarding sound issues. Except to check all your settings, reboot or try a factory data reset and start fresh with the device. Some may need to buy a new device.

Random Restarts

Not surprisingly, some are seeing random reboots. If you haven’t manually restarted or turned off the phone in a while, try this. Something might be going wrong while saving apps and things to volatile memory.

Certain apps may not be compatible with Nougat, but most should be by now. If you notice it restarting while using a particular program, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Or checking for updates on the Google Play Store. Advanced users can boot into recovery and clear device cache for a better experience.

Fingerprint Scanner Issues

In addition to the sound issues, we’re seeing some owners encounter issues with the fingerprint scanner. We recommend checking out this guide for additional details. Typically, any fingerprint-related issue can be resolved by deleting and redoing saved scans. It takes a minute or two at most.

HTC 10 Nougat Software Lag

Updates are supposed to make our devices faster and more stable. If you are experiencing abnormal lag or performance, try restarting the phone. If the problems persist, there are ways to speed up HTC 10. There is a nice trick in this guide that is worth trying as a last resort.

Otherwise, you may need to uninstall certain apps that are not working properly or try to find what is causing the issues. Backup features can be slowing things down so keep that in mind.

Factory Data Reset

All said and done, some minor issue or issue cannot be fixed by an easy reboot or changing some settings. While it may be inconvenient for some, we recommend performing a factory data reset after every major software update. Especially the one as big as Android 7.0 Nougat. This will completely wipe the phone and all data, but it has been known to drastically reduce issues, improve performance, and keep battery life at its best.

Go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory Reset > Erase and wipe the phone completely. It will erase everything (remove your SD card first) and bring HTC 10 back to “out of the box” state. Like the day you bought it, it only runs the latest software.

We recommend backing up your device first to be safe, restore everything and continue setting up the phone. It’s a hassle to look at, but this should solve any underlying issues you may encounter.
