One of the biggest reasons to enjoy Minecraft on PC is its ability to change anything. With a simple command, users can rewrite some of the code and change the blocky world with different weather, teleportation and much more. It’s very adaptable, which is part of what makes it so simple, yet powerful and fun.
In late 2014, Microsoft bought Minecraft and the developer team at Mojang, and that was a big deal. They quickly confirmed that the PS4 and mobile versions are not going anywhere, and more than a year later this week they announced some important news for iPhone, Android and console Minecraft players. Jens went on to say that command line blocks or “mods” will be available for mobile users and consoles. So Xbox and PS4 users will not be left out either. This is a big step forward for Minecraft, potentially giving over 70 million paid users access to more content and unlimited content, but possibly for another small fee.
How Minecraft Mods Work
Those who enjoy Minecraft on PC can quickly enter the chat, put slashes and enter some command line code (command blocks) and change the virtual world as they see fit. From the air to the landscape, from the trees, everything becomes invincible, from teleporting (especially when you get lost) to Star Wars mods, boat mods, more bows and arrows, and more. The options are limited only by the imagination of the players. In survival mode, it’s easy to destroy all zombies with one command on a PC.
Minecraft is a great game on its own, which is why Microsoft paid nearly 2.5 billion to buy the company in 2014. However, it could be even better thanks to easy mods. Modding is a core element of the Minecraft community,” said Bergensten. “To support mods for other platforms, we need to create a system that allows this without changing the app itself. We are currently exploring our options and hope to resolve this soon.”
The problem is finding an easy way to add all this to Xbox, consoles and even mobile devices. Microsoft is busy working on a solution and the ultimate goal is to offer the same features as PC users across all platforms. It’s essentially a parity feature for everyone.
iPhone and Android Minecraft Mods
Imagine being able to customize Minecraft to whatever you want. Changing the blocky world to reflect the popular TV show Game of Thrones and instead building entire cities inside that world. All of this is possible with a PC, and soon we will be able to do it on our smartphones.

All we really know right now is that Microsoft’s main goal is to achieve feature parity for all platforms as soon as possible. This is hard work and will take some time to develop and simplify so anyone can do it on whatever device.
Unfortunately Microsoft or the lead developer didn’t have a firm date or rough time frame to suggest, but know that all of these are coming soon. Everything available in terms of Minecraft mods for PC will come to mobile devices and consoles, and that includes command blocks. Many game mechanics will obviously be different with soft keys and the like compared to keyboard and mouse, but this is definitely a step in the right direction that all gamers can appreciate.
