How to Create Your Own WhatsApp Stickers

After emojis and gifs, stickers are another way to express yourself in a conversation. Almost every IM (Instant Messaging) app has added sticker support. WhatsApp is no exception. The Facebook-owned company has gone even further and added the option to create custom stickers. Here’s how you can create your own stickers on WhatsApp.

As of now, the ability to create custom WhatsApp stickers is limited to WhatsApp desktop apps only. You cannot create one using the WhatsApp mobile app. However, there is an option to export your created stickers from WhatsApp desktop to WhatsApp mobile. Stick to the end to learn every trick.

WhatsApp custom sticker packs are useful when you want to create interactive stickers from memories. Moreover, it is quite easy to do. Let’s set up WhatsApp desktop first and then create stickers.

WhatsApp Desktop Installation

Before we jump straight to WhatsApp desktop or web, we’ll show you how to set it up on your computer or Mac (after all, it’s not as easy as adding a mobile number and logging into a WhatsApp account).

Stage 1: Download the WhatsApp app from Microsoft Store or Mac App Store.

Step 2: Open WhatsApp on your PC or Mac and it will show a QR code to scan.

Stage 3: Open WhatsApp on your mobile and go to Settings.

Step 4: Select Connected Devices and tap Connect a Device.

Step 5: Verify yourself and it will open a built-in camera to scan the QR displayed on WhatsApp desktop or WhatsApp web.

Step 6: Scan the QR code and within minutes you will see all your WhatsApp messages appear in the desktop app.

Now you are ready to create custom WhatsApp stickers using the desktop app.

Create Custom WhatsApp Stickers on WhatsApp

First, make sure that the relevant images are stored on your PC or Mac so that you can create a sticker. Follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Stage 1: Open WhatsApp on the desktop.

Step 2: Go to any chat where you want to use the sticker.

Stage 3: Click on the emoji icon in the chat.

Step 4: Select the Sticker icon next to the GIF.

Step 5: It will open the recent stickers menu.

Step 6: Click the create button and it will ask you to choose an image to use as a sticker in WhatsApp.

Step 7: Select an image and it will open the sticker editor in WhatsApp.

Here are the editing options before converting an image to sticker on WhatsApp.

Outline: This is one of the most essential tools for creating custom WhatsApp stickers. To crop unnecessary elements, select the outline and create a path on the image. You can draw a path over an image and turn an image into a sticker.

Emoji: Planning to add an image to a sticker? Click on the emoji icon and choose an emoji that is relevant to you.

Ticket: You can add an existing sticker to a custom sticker using the sticker menu.

Text: The name says it all. Click the T icon and add text to your custom sticker.

You can also use the paint tool to add some color to a sticker. In the screenshot above, we used the outline tool and added a sticker-like effect to a simple image.

After making the necessary changes to the image press the send button and WhatsApp will share it as a sticker in the app. You can create as many custom stickers as you want using the Create tool in the WhatsApp desktop app.

Transfer WhatsApp Custom Stickers to Phone

As an annoying limitation, WhatsApp will not sync stickers created from the desktop to the phone. You cannot access the stickers created from desktop to mobile with one touch. However, a workaround allows you to use all custom stickers in WhatsApp conversations on the phone.

Stage 1: Open WhatsApp on your phone.

Step 2: Open a conversation where you previously used a custom sticker.

Stage 3: Tap on a sticker and select Add to Favorites.

The sticker is added to your sticker gallery. You can now use the sticker in any WhatsApp chat. Repeat the same step for all custom stickers and add to favorites for easy access.
