Losing weight can sometimes be a daunting task for UFC fighters. Especially when you consider the number of champions who have been stripped of their titles because of their weight. Gaining weight for a fight can put athletes under a lot of stress before a fight.
Most recently, in front of the UFC Vegas 64 Bantamweight fighter, Benito Lopez hasn’t been able to gain more than 3.5 pounds of weight required to compete in the Bantamweight division. After the incident, the fighter was fiercely mocked by MMA fans for a post he made about his diet while losing weight for the fight. In an Instagram story a few weeks ago, Benito Lopez wrote:Losing weight has never been so sweet.”
Benito Lopez will face Mauricio Bautista. UFC Vegas 64 which now will most likely be a weight struggle. Both fighters have had promising starts to their UFC careers and will be looking for a win to further their own record. Benito Lopez wasn’t the only fighter to lose weight at UFC Las Vegas 64, as five other fighters lost weight prior to the event.

Other fighters who lost weight ahead of UFC Vegas 64
UFC Las Vegas 64 has been a disastrous event so far. The event, which has already lost its planned headliner, with several fighters unable to provide the necessary weight, Bryce Mitchell etc. Movsar Evloev—now suffered another setback. Three of the four athletes who could not gain weight overnight will compete in weight matches.
The fight between Grant Dawson and Mark Madsen now seems problematic after Dawson missed the weights. The outcome of tomorrow night’s battle between the two lightweights is still up in the air. Ramona Pascual, who had not yet claimed a victory in the cage, was one pound above the women’s petite weight limit. Shanna Young only gained weight after cutting her hair.

All these fighters will be fined and forced to give up 20 percent of their salary. While most fans of mixed martial arts aren’t too excited about this event, it’s still a powerful card. Especially women’s strawweight matches Marina Rodriguez and Amanda Lemos will be the main attraction of UFC Vegas 64.
