Badoo is a free dating service but with premium features. The base offer is completely free, but if you use the app a lot, it’s worth having some paid for features. As usual, they use subscriptions to keep you connected and progress month to month. How do you unsubscribe from Badoo if you want to take a break?
Apps can be finicky when it comes to canceling. Some will ‘forget’ that you cancel, others will continue to charge you even when you cancel, and some will actually stop taking money. You can influence which direction Badoo will take by unsubscribing from the platform and double-checking your mobile platform just to be sure.
You can also pay for Badoo with a credit card or PayPal, so I’ll show you how to cancel them.
Cancel your Badoo subscription
Canceling your Badoo subscription is actually quite simple. Definitely easier than some premium apps I can mention!
- Log into your Badoo account and select the Settings menu from the gear icon in the top right.
- Select cancel subscription.
- Select Unsubscribe again to confirm your choice.
Your account will revert to a free account when your premium period expires. Canceling your subscription doesn’t close your account, it just converts it to a free account and removes the premium features you’ve been using. If you pay by credit card this method will also stop it.
If you’re using Badoo on mobile, you should also check your platform’s subscription settings to make sure it’s been cancelled.
For Apple users, go to this page to check what subscriptions you have. You can also control directly from your phone:
- Launch the Settings app on your phone.
- Select iTunes & App Store and sign in with your Apple ID.
- Select Subscriptions and check the list.
- Select a subscription to cancel.
- Select unsubscribe and confirm.
Android users have a similar setup:
- Open Google Play Store on your phone.
- Select the menu icon and select Subscriptions.
- Select the subscription you want to cancel.
- Select Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Canceling from your phone has the same effect as canceling directly with Badoo. You will continue to use your premium features until your paid time expires and then revert to a free account.
If you’re paying with PayPal, it’s worth logging into your PayPal account and checking your recurring payments to make sure it’s definitely unsubscribed.
If you have any issues canceling your Badoo subscription, there is a customer service link on your account profile page. You can click this to contact customer service and hopefully find a solution. Issues of unsubscribing from within Badoo will not prevent you from canceling the subscription from your mobile platform or PayPal.
Pause or delete your Badoo account
If you’re canceling because you’re taking a break from an internet appointment or especially Badoo, you may want to pause or delete your account. You can of course leave it running, but if you’re putting it on hold because you’ve met someone, leaving a live dating account can be problematic if you find out.
It is not possible to pause your Badoo account, so you must either ignore it or delete it. See how your new relationship is going or if you’ve timed out and get your account back when you’re ready. As far as I know, Badoo doesn’t have a built-in pause mechanism to suspend the account while you do other things.
You can still delete your account. If you’re starting a relationship and want to make sure there aren’t any active dating accounts you can find, canceling is definitely something to consider. This means you’ll have to readjust everything if things go wrong, but that’s not very optimistic!
To delete your Badoo account, do this:
- Login to your Badoo account and select your profile.
- Select the settings menu with the gear icon in the top right.
- Go to and select Delete Account.
- ‘Are you sure?’ Confirm your selection when you see the option. Message.
- Select Delete Account once more to delete it.
Once deleted, you have 30 days to change your mind and reactivate your account. If you reactivate within this time, your account will reactivate and you’re ready. If you return to Badoo after these 30 days have elapsed, you will need to create a new profile. That’s not such a bad thing as it gives you a chance to try something new!
If you cancel your Badoo account, remember to remove it from Facebook or any social network you connect.
