Realme 2 Game Review: Game? Never!

Realme has recently launched the new Realme 2. Rs. 8990for the budget segment. Packed in a Snapdragon 450 SoC and overloaded by the company’s Color OS custom skin, the device’s performance doesn’t look appealing, at least on paper. But hey, let’s find out how it is in real life, shall we?

Realme 2 Comparisons

Of course, I don’t buy a device based on its benchmark score. That said, benchmarks can mean a lot to some of you and that’s why I decided to start this review by stress-testing the device using 3DMark, Geekbench, and Antutu.

The Realme 2 packs on the Snapdragon 450 SoC, and truth be told, it’s a huge disappointment than its predecessor. Ok, the processor is fine, but not for performance enthusiasts. Realme 2 managed to score 76926 points in AnTuTu, 785 points in single-core and 3788 points in multi-core tests in Geekbench 4. Apart from that, in the 3DMark test results, Realme 2 managed to score 391 points, which is quite weak in the OpenGL ES 3.1 Test.

in comparisonRealme 1 scored 138321 in Antutu Benchmark, while Redmi 5 managed to score 69693 points. Interestingly, while it manages to outperform the Redmi 5 in terms of benchmarking, real world performance is a whole different story.

Realme 2 Gaming Performance

Comparisons are one thing, but I prefer real-time testing of the device to understand how it will fare for a consumer. We used the device extensively to test the actual performance of the Realme 2 and played a number of graphics-intensive games, including PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9: Legends. To be honest, the performance was a huge disappointment.

I tried playing PUBG Mobile, my favorite mobile game these days and the game ran very badly. The device only lowest possible settings, I can notice an occasional lag also in the game.

when it comes I was able to render Asphalt 9 Legends at medium settings., sometimes with a slight delay. In case you weren’t aware, Asphalt 9 looks good but isn’t as graphically intense as PUBG Mobile. However, Asphalt 9’s performance in Realme 2 was also disappointing.

Realme 2: Not Made For Gaming

Considering you buy a device under Rs. 10,000, gaming should be the least of your priorities. However, no matter how small your expectations from the device, the Realme 2 will most likely be a disappointment. All in all, the Realme 2 has a decent processor that is not allowed to reach its full potential, no matter how little, thanks to the overly skinned Color OS.
