Chandler JonesThe defender for the Arizona Cardinals reached free agency for the first time in his ten-year career. No one in the NFL has picked up more sacks than Chandler Jones since he joined the league in 2012. Jones was having a hard time deciding which team was the best fit for his abilities.
Now, it looks like he’s finally found his landing spot for the 2022 season. The Las Vegas Raiders have signed a three-year, $51 million contract with veteran LB. Ever since Josh McDaniels took on the role of Dave Ziegler as head coach and GM for the Raiders, it’s been clear that former Patriots players would be added to Las Vegas’ roster.
Chandler Jones will be Raider in the 2022 season
Jones began his career with the New England Patriots, where he won the Super Bowl during his 4-year stay. He was later handed over to the Arizona Cardinals and is coming out of his 6-year stay with them. Jones is reunited with former Patriots assistant Patrick Graham, who is now the Raiders’ defensive coordinator.
“Feels great. A dream come true” Said through Jones SiriusXM NFL Radio. “I was sitting here talking to Pat Graham, I’ve talked to Dave Ziggy and I’ve talked to Josh McDaniels, and these guys have known me since I was in the league. I mean, these guys have known me since I was a kid. They’ve known me almost a decade ago.
“Having the opportunity to have everything go full circle, being on the same team with these guys, helped a lot in my decision. It gives me so much confidence. I trust this front desk more than I trust anything else, and like I said, it gives you the motivation to go through a wall for people like this. They certainly demand that respect.”
It’s no secret that coaches and managers from New England who try to succeed on their own are very unsuccessful. The Raiders are betting that the Ziegler/McDaniels duo will put an end to that trend and that production from Jones will bolster the bet of Las Vegas in the long run.
