“Too much free time is a burden for me”: Justin Herbert’s dedication to the game of football proves he’s a legend in the making

If you’re a fan of the Los Angeles Chargers, you must be really excited to see how the team is welcoming this upcoming NFL season. The team nearly made it to the playoffs last year, and quarterback Justin Herbert has already shown he’s worthy of being a franchise QB they can count on for a decade or more. Although the season only lasts for half a year, the players will have to work throughout the year as they need to stay in shape and make up for their shortcomings.

However, there is a short hiatus after the mini-camp, where players can rest and take a long vacation for five weeks, and that sounds like a dream come true for any NFL player. But then again, not everyone is cut from the same fabric, and Justin Herbert is made from something completely different. The quarterback doesn’t like to take vacations and explains why he belittles them.

“I need football”: Justin Herbert on why he never took time off

Justin Herbert’s dedication to the game of football is impressive

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback revealed at a press conference last week that he wasn’t very enthusiastic about his days off, actually thinking it was a burden to do.

“The best part of football is that I need football for me, I love waking up and going to work, lifting weights, running, throwing and watching movies. I think too much free time can be a burden for me sometimes, so I’m here to watch movies or for OTAs “I’m always looking forward to having something to do, whether we’re going out or going out. I guess that’s what I’m looking forward to.” Herbert, a Press conference. This is nothing more than a song that Chargers fans have struggled with for a long time without a solid quarterback. Philip Rivers was good, but Herbert was exactly what this organization needed to reinvent itself.

Herbert is a living and walking example of the quote, “If you do what you love for a living, you won’t work a day in your life.” The quarterback sees his job as a vacation in itself. “I feel like I’m on vacation right now, I think if you’re on vacation, you’re trying to get away from something. I always look forward to coming to this place, working and doing all that fun stuff. I’m going to do the same thing on the way home, trying to have as much fun as I can with my family and stuff like that but this is work and getting ready for the season.” Herbert added.

Without football, he has nothing else to do, he gets bored if he does not train regularly and do the exercises he is used to. “Saturdays and Sundays are nice, but I also prefer to play and have something to do because I hate walking around my house and doing nothing or accomplishing anything.” Herbert seems like an openly introvert and doesn’t really like going out. This is great for an athlete as he only focuses on one thing to be the best version of himself. We can’t wait to see how Herbert and the Chargers perform next season.
