Tim Tebow, one of the NFL’s most popular players of the day, stayed briefly with the New England Patriots. The 34-year-old was recruited to the Patriots squad in 2012 by coach Bill Belichick to play as the number 2 quarterback on the roster behind Tom Brady.

However, the task was not fruitful for him, and he was eventually released the following year in 2013 and decided to pursue a publishing career while also continuing to seek opportunities to return to the big stage if given the chance.

While Tim Tebow hasn’t had an eventful time with Bill Belichick, he recounted an important anecdote from his time in the franchise during an appearance on CBS Sports Radio’s “Maggie and Perloff” on Tuesday.

“It was something my agent would always say” said Tebow. The extremely popular quarterback said Bill Belichick He wanted to stay under the radar while with the Patriots and not attract too much media attention.

“He would talk to other teams and talk to their GMs, talk to the owners and say we love him, but we can’t have a backup point guard with that much attention.”

“I mean, it was something Belichick and I talked about a lot, honestly, when we were there. When we signed he said ‘He’s very excited but we need you to stay under the radar’.

“I literally spent a year, you can go and have a look, I trained for a full year on the West Coast, where I was away from almost everything. It was right after I was kicked out of the Patriots and I tried to stay under the radar to avoid it, so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.”

Tim Tebow is back on the NFL circuit after a 6-year hiatus after leaving the Philadelphia Eagles when he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, but has now returned to an off-the-court career.
