One of the biggest offseason trades that shocked the entire NFL more than Aaron Rodgers being the highest paid QB in the league and even more than Tom Brady’s announcement of his retirement after 40 days was the Cleveland Browns’ signing of Deshaun Watson.
The Browns were unhappy with the result Baker Mayfield provided them, despite being the #1 draft pick of 2018. Because of this, Cleveland has decided to break up with him and take on former Texas QB Deshaun Watson, who hasn’t played a game since 2020.
Nick Wright believes Browns should cut Baker Mayfield so he can make QB for another team

Nick Wright on everything in order Watson beat the Browns’ front office for running his business in an unprofessional manner. Baker suspended Mayfield for failing to secure a trade for Watson before the Browns recruited Watson. ““What the Browns did is embarrassing,” he said. said Wright. “They made the decision to move on from the QB who took them from the depths of all sports, not just the NFL cellar.”
The team hadn’t won a single game in their last 19 games before Mayfield stepped in as the Browns’ QB. The team had become the laughing stock of everyone in the world. Then came the QB winner Heisman Trophy from Okhlama, who finished his 635-day streak, continuing to break the rookie point guard record for touchdowns. He struggled in his second year, but soon found his footing, leading the Browns to their first playoff game in 2002 and victory in 2020 since 1994.

Despite all that Baker Mayfield did for the organization, the Browns ensured they weren’t getting a fair price for their talent as they were stranded in Cleveland with no future. “Then the Browns should go to the last page of the story and cut Baker Mayfield. They made a choice, they wanted to move on, they should move on, and Baker should be able to continue his career elsewhere. I think the idea that they would have gotten along with Baker Mayfield if they hadn’t taken Deshaun was ridiculous.” Added Wright.
The right thing to do should have been to first make a trade for Baker Mayfield and then do the opposite, rather than buy Watson. The right thing to do now would be to separate Mayfield from Cleveland.
Shannon Sharpe claims the Browns will replace quarterbacks no matter what happens in 2022.
