SportsCenter host Sage Steele has decided to sue ESPN and its parent company, Disney, for violating his right to free speech on a 2021 podcast. Following Steele’s comments on Jay Cutler’s September 2021 podcast, Ryan Clark declined to work. She’s with him in a show that Steele is scheduled to host on the ESPN network.
ESPN did not accept Clark’s requests not to appear with Sage Steele, but the analyst followed his own instincts and later did not appear on the show. Clark did not face any consequences for not following the company’s orders, according to the lawsuit. Obtained by Outkick.

In the notorious podcast, Sage Steele urged Disney’s mandate to vaccinate all of its staff. She disagreed with the task and felt that it was a frightening proposition. Although she didn’t accept the job, she had herself vaccinated so she could continue her job.
“I respect everyone’s decision, I really respect it, but to enforce it is sick and in many ways frightening to me.” Steele told Cutler in 2021.
“But I have a job, a job I love, and frankly, a job I need, but I love it anyway. I’m not surprised it got to this point, especially with Disney, a global company…but it was actually emotional.”
