“I’m so excited!” Shaq Barrett delighted to welcome Todd Bowles as new Buccaneers head coach

With the shock retirement of Bruce Arians, Tampa Bay Pirates Called his replacement and chose to promote defensive coordinator, Todd Bowles, to the head coach. Shaq Barett, one of the defenders, was excited about Bowles’ promotion.

This isn’t the first time Todd Bowles has served as head coach in the NFL. Technically this happened in 2011 when he was the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins, but he was only there in 3 games where he went 2-1. His first real season as a head coach was in 2015, when the New York Jets hired him to replace Rex Ryan.

His first season with the Jets was pretty successful as he led them to a 10-6 record and narrowly missed the playoffs. The 2015 defense finished 4th in yards allowed, 3rd in total turnovers, and 9th in total points allowed. Really impressive markings. But from then on, things weren’t going to be that impressive for the next 3 seasons, with the Jets not getting more than 5 wins in any of them.

Still, Todd Bowles had shown the potential to be successful with a high-caliber team, and moreover, he had more success as a defensive coordinator after being released by the Jets after the 2018 season. Therefore, the next season is expected with great interest.

Shaq Barret appeared on ‘SiriusXM NFL Radio’ where he is. quoted word “I’m so excited for Coach Bowles to have the chance to lead a team again and I’m happy he’s not going anywhere. I know he’s been looking into head coaching jobs for the past few years, so I’m glad he’s been able to find that at the Bucs.”

Barrett noted that he was completely shocked by the fact that Todd Bowles was the new head coach, as Bruce did not expect Arians to retire. In reality, no one actually saw it coming. He’s clearly looking forward to hitting the road, and Bowles himself is confident he’ll be fired up to have this competitive roster.

But the benefits of being a good team also have their downsides. When a team is already in a busy season, they are expected to perform well, and most of that pressure is on the head coach’s shoulders. Having struggled in the past, Bowles will have to prove he is more than a great coordinator and take the next step in 2022.
