Amari Cooper and Dallas cowboys It may not stay together in 2022. Just two seasons after the signing of a $100 million deal with the highest base salary of any buyer in 2021.
In the 2020 season, Amari Cooper immediately delivered the big price tag, with 92 receptions on 130 goals for 1114 yards and 5 touchdowns. This marked 2 consecutive 1000-yard seasons with over 100 receptions.
In 2021, Cooper saw a significant drop in production as he caught just 68 passes at 865 yards. It also only had 104 goals. In fact, CeeDee Lamb wasn’t even Dallas’ best receiver, with 1102 yards and Dalton Schultz’s 808 yards plus 104 goals.
Heading into the 2022 season, it’s unclear whether Amari Cooper will remain part of the Cowboys’ plans. Stephen Jones did not offer any insights.

Stephen Jones offers no update on Amari Cooper’s contract details
When asked by Jon Machota of ‘TheAthletic.com’ about Amari Cooper’s condition, Dallas Cowboys EVP said: Stephen Jones replied with “It’s too early for me to deal with that. I don’t want to go into the details of any contracts.”
The real problem with cowboys is that they need a little more hat room. Frankly, Amari Cooper has had great success. In terms of the $100 million deal, Cooper was guaranteed the $40 million he already had. The Cowboys have until March 20 to release Cooper before his $20 million for 2022 is fully guaranteed.
Given the lack of production in 2021 and the massive contract, the Cowboys will have a really tough time swapping the Cooper between now and deadlines. It looks like it will be released given the cowboy hat issues. However, chances are they’re working on a restructuring or figuring out how Cooper could take a pay cut.
As of right now, we don’t really know what the Cowboys want to do, and Jones’ comments seem like he just doesn’t want to let that be known when we turn to freelance.
