Lance looked good in practice and did pretty well judging by his teammates’ reviews, but until we see him perform at that level in a real regular season game, we can’t be sure if it’s worth all the hype. If Lance fails to live up to expectations, the 49ers may decide to return to their former QB in the second half of the season so they don’t risk having to trash an entire year.
For Jimmy Garoppolo this new contract is a sigh of relief, all sources believed he would be released as he didn’t get much attention from teams in the quarterback market that has become extremely competitive this season. He will remain in a backup role and have the opportunity to show that a shoulder injury should not be a concern for teams willing to trade for him.
