People around the world, including legendary NBA player Lebron James, were stunned as their hearts sank with fear due to a tragic shooting that took place at an Elementary School in Texas. Steve Kerr’s pre-game press conference had nothing to do with basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Western Conference finals between the Warriors and the Mavericks on Tuesday, as Uvalde was unable to contain his emotions after such traumatic events in Texas. One of them was Lebron James himself, as so many athletes in and around the NBA supported the coach’s view and offered to take on the challenge of making things better.
As everyone mourned the deaths of 19 children and 2 teachers in a traumatic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, a dizzying sense of despair was in the air. The initial investigation outside of Texas revealed that the deceased shooter was Salvador Ramos. The reason for such mass shootings is unclear to everyone, but it’s safe to say that the United States is losing more blood than ever before. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has already given a press briefing as police officers gather information on how the incident happened. The attack was recorded as the bloodiest shooting at a school in Texas history. During a dismal media briefing, Abbott outlined the mind-numbing details of the murder:
He shot and killed 14 students in a horrific, inexplicable way, and killed a teacher. … He is dead. “It is believed that the officers involved in the incident killed him.” Abbot explained. The horrific event must have hit Lebron James so hard because he also built a public elementary school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
Lebron James became an avid supporter of stricter gun laws in America to prevent such horrific incidents from happening. Today he tweeted his displeasure, replied ‘This is not rocket science’ To another tweet describing how children in China survived the attack because it was a knife attack. Lebron implied that stricter laws regulating the use of guns and ammunition would lead to greater order in the country with more responsible citizens. Many NBA athletes, including Stephen Curry and his coach Steve Kerr, have also made their views clear on the matter.
The United States has been grappling with Mass Shootings, with an average of 1.5 incidents per day since recently. President Joe Biden was stunned when he heard the news and addressed the nation, saying: “This can’t go on any longer”. As we try to calm ourselves in these difficult times, our hearts go out to the family of these little angels, whose pain we cannot understand. We wish them strength and hope, and pray that such incidents will not happen again.
