In the beginning, everything goes as planned for them. But the scenario quickly turns disastrous when they fall into much deeper basins than they anticipated.
They avoid certain death thanks to iPhone 14’s satellite search
“We believe the particularly rainy Utah winter has altered the canyon a bit, leading to a much more challenging scenario than we were prepared for.” explains one. After they manage to cross one of these basins, they find themselves stuck in another too deep to get out. As the water then reached their shoulders, they struggled for several hours to free themselves from the area. Unsuccessful.
“I went into hypothermic shock, panicked and started freezing and my two friends were worried when they saw me”, continuing student. Of course, their smartphones are not receiving any signal to allow them to call for help. But after a while, they realize that every 20 minutes the satellite is aligned with their position. They survived: All they had to do was use their iPhone 14 and its satellite search functionality to contact local emergency services.
