How to Restart Frozen Google Pixel 4

This quick and simple guide explains how to restart a frozen Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL. If your phone is unresponsive or acting funny, the easiest way to fix it is to reset it. Google’s new Pixel has a lot to like, but things aren’t always perfect.

While restarting the phone is the best way to fix most minor issues, this isn’t always an option. Especially if your Pixel phone is frozen or completely unresponsive. Without the removable battery and on-screen software buttons, problems can be a real pain. So, if you are dealing with any kind of issue, our instructions below will help you fix it really quickly.

Instructions

This will not delete any data or information on your phone.

  1. Press the Power button on the top right of the phone
  2. Press and hold the power button for or until the phone vibrates and restarts
  3. If instead the phone shuts down, release it and press power again for 1-2 seconds to reboot the phone.

That is all. Easy enough, right? Pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds will give you the option to shut down or restart the phone. If it doesn’t work at all, hold down the power button a little longer and it will reboot on its own.

Press and hold the button for long enough and you will see it turn off, you will feel the phone vibrate, then it will restart and return to full working order. And no, you will not lose any data, photos or information during this process. This is nothing more than restarting the phone, only you force it to restart. However, any open applications or browser windows will be closed. Some apps will lose progress, but that’s it.
