When Windows 8 was released last year, the operating system did not receive criticism only because of the sluggish design of the Start Screen. Longtime users have blasted other areas of the operating system as obsolete in terms of allowing users to feel like their device is theirs.
Fortunately, one of Microsoft’s ways to fix the problem is by allowing Windows 8.1 users to add slideshows of their photos to their lock screen. These photos do not need to be on the user’s computer or tablet, the images can be retrieved from Microsoft’s SkyDrive cloud storage service and automatically synced across devices.
Here’s how to add a slideshow to the lock screen and automatically show your favorite photos in Windows 8.1.
To go start screen.
Swipe left from right edge If your device has a mouse and keyboard, move the mouse cursor to the upper-right corner of your screen to activate the Charms Bar.
click or tap Settings fascination. This is the icon represented by the gear at the bottom of the Charms Bar.
Click or tap Change computer settings.
In the PC Settings app, click or tap the menu. The first option on the left.
click Lock screen.
Turn on lock screen slideshows by tapping or clicking the labeled switch. Play Slideshow on lock screen.
click or tap + icon to add a folder where you want to take pictures.
Use the file selector to select the photos you want to view. If you want your devices to automatically show pictures uploaded to your SkyDrive folder, click or tap and select from the drop-down menu.
Click or tap Select file To select an entire folder of photos, you can also select each photo by clicking or tapping on them.
That’s it, Windows 8.1 will now randomly display photos on your lock screen. You can also choose whether to stop the lock screen slideshows when your device is running on battery power. It’s important to note that Windows 8.1 will automatically sync these options with any PC or device using the same Microsoft Account.
