Instagram lets you save posts so you can easily reference them later. This is a feature I use all the time. Saving posts works in many situations. Better still, Instagram lets you neatly categorize your saved posts into Collections. However, some Instagram users miss the benefits of this feature because sometimes their device malfunctions. In this post, we’ll cover some common Instagram Collection issues and show you how to fix them.
This post will highlight some troubleshooting solutions to fix your Instagram app when Save button not working or app crashes. Also, if some of your saved posts are missing from your collection, we’ve listed below three (3) ways to restore them. Continue reading.
Save To Collection Button Doesn’t Work
Saving a post on Instagram is easy. Tap or long press the bookmark icon in the bottom right corner of any post on mobile or PC. After that, the post will be saved in a private section of your profile or in a collection (if you have created it).
There may be cases where you may not be able to save posts to your collection because the bookmark/save icon is not working or responding. I’ve had this a couple of times. Some users have even reported that the Instagram app sometimes crashes when they try to save a post or long-press the ‘Save to Collection’ button. If you find yourself facing the same issues on your IG, here’s how to fix it.
Close and Restart Instagram
Closing the Instagram app on your (Android or iOS) device may make the save button work again. This worked for me and some users also found this an effective solution to the problem. Restart the app and you should now be able to save posts.

If closing Instagram doesn’t fix the problem, try restarting your phone. This will help refresh the app, make it work normally, and can fix any issue that caused the Instagram app to malfunction.
Clear Cache (for Android)
Clearing the cache data of the Instagram app can also fix the app malfunctioning. This will get rid of old or corrupt data/files which are responsible for Instagram app’s inability to save posts to collections. This will also improve the performance of the app and save storage space on your Andriod device.
To clear Instagram app cache, launch Android Settings menu and go to Apps & Notification > App info > Instagram > Storage & Cache and tap on Clear Cache button.
After clearing the cache, launch Instagram and check if you can now save posts.
iOS users can try a clean reinstall of the Instagram app.

Saved Posts Won’t Load/Disappear
This is another common issue that many Instagram users have reported. When there are too many posts saved in a Collection on Instagram, older (pre-saved) posts in the collection are sometimes lost. If that explains your current situation, read the fixes below to get back your saved posts in your Instagram collection.

Are you running the latest version of the Instagram app on your smartphone? If not, update the app from your phone’s app store; missing registered posts should reappear in your collections.
Check Instagram Web
If you still cannot find the posts saved in your collection after updating your mobile app, you should log into your Instagram account from PC. The web version of Instagram is mostly error free and you should see all the posts saved in your collections.
Follow the steps below to check posts saved on Instagram web.
Stage 1: Visit Instagram in your browser, enter your account information and tap Sign In.
Step 2: Then tap the profile icon in the upper right corner of the homepage.
Stage 3: Go to the Saved section on your profile.
You should see all saved posts associated with your Instagram account.
Note: Saved posts are not (currently) grouped under Collections on the web version of Instagram.
Remove Newly Saved Posts
Instagram will not delete posts you save without your consent. However, saving more posts to your collections can sometimes hide older posts from that collection. Instagram does not officially say if there is a limit to the number of posts that can be saved (to a collection). However, some users reported that saving new posts keeps old posts in their collection. Interestingly, removing the newly saved post brought back the missing posts.
If the post you’re looking for is very important, you can remove other not-so-important posts you’ve recently saved and the missing posts should reappear in your collection. Here’s how to remove a saved post on Instagram on Android and iOS devices.
Stage 1: Tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner of the Instagram app.
Step 2: Tap the hamburger menu icon in the upper right corner of the profile page.
Stage 3: Select Saved.
Step 4: Tap the Collection whose posts you want to delete/unsave.
Step 5: Now, tap on the collection menu icon in the upper right corner.
Step 6: Tap on the ‘Select…’ option.
Step 7: Select the images you want to save/delete from the collection and tap the Remove button.
When removing/unsaving recent entries in collections, check if the post you’re looking for reappears in the collection. If not, delete more posts and keep checking if missing posts are restored.

When you follow the methods mentioned above, you will no longer have any problems with saving photos and videos on Instagram.
