Warzone 2 is coming to PS4 and previous generation consoles later this year, around the time Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is released. With the original Warzone and last-gen consoles starting to show their age, a revamped Warzone sequel should be exactly what players have been looking for and take battle royale back into the modern era. Although not much has been officially shared yet, you can find all the information about Warzone 2 and its release on PS4 below.
Will Warzone 2 be on PS4?
Warzone 2 will launch on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PS5, Xbox Series X and even Steam. While it’s good to see that players on older consoles won’t be left behind with the sequel, it does raise questions about Warzone 2’s technical performance and capabilities. Even now, Warzone doesn’t work very well on these older consoles, so it doesn’t bode well for a Warzone sequel that runs on a unified Call of Duty engine and likely has advanced graphics and tech.
It is also worth noting that there is no release date for Warzone 2 yet. Activision has confirmed that the battle royale sequel will launch in 2022, and we already know that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, with which Warzone 2 is co-developed, will launch on October 28, 2022. Based on past Call of Duty release dates and Warzone integrations, we expect Warzone 2 to launch in November or December 2022, possibly simultaneously on all listed platforms.
Details on Warzone 2 in general are very weak at the moment, but hopefully some new information or an official announcement will come soon. However, we’re not ruling out the possibility of a delay to early 2023 to ensure a smooth launch, as Warzone has had some tough technical issues, especially during the Vanguard integration period. Regardless of when Warzone 2 is released, I hope it’s a hassle-free experience for gamers who are still on PS4 and Xbox One.
