2022 has been a strange year for gaming. If blockbuster movies didn’t smash through, the ones that came out were industry-worthy titles like Elden Ring or God of War Ragnarök. I must say we are in a somewhat unusual time: the shortage of consoles continues to poison the market, and many games have been postponed to 2023. The industry is slowly recovering from the COVID crisis, and the next few months will see the arrival of a plethora of titles, whether they’re blockbusters or more secret works. On Moyens I/O, We have selected ten games to watch for 2023, Ten titles that should raise the crowds if they keep their word.
We’re getting wet for this file! actually one of the most anticipated games from the editorial staff, what we see in our dreams at night This ranking is common and everyone has brought their claws to it, so it is purely subjective. Yours, feel free to give us yours in the comments! Note that we only include titles that have been confirmed for 2023, and not those whose release date is still uncertain.
Let’s go !
10/ Final Fantasy XVI – June 22, 2023 (PS5)
Six years after the last numbered episode, the saga returns to our consoles and tries to strike a hard blow. Final Fantasy XVI is willing to bet on its rich universe, strong characters, and compelling sequences with connotations. No more tech worlds and car rides, as this FF will go back to its roots with a more classic, heroic fantasy universe. It’s a serious contender for the title of best JRPG of 2023.
9/ Baldur’s Gate 3 – August 2023 (PC)
Twenty years. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been delayed for over two decades. Salvation finally comes from Belgian studio Larian, which has been working behind two Divinity Original Sins. With its immense legacy, BG 3 will have to be the ultimate cRPG that will have to get as close as possible to the paper role-playing experience. So the pressure on developers is huge and for now early access (available since 2020) is very reassuring. Will we be entitled to a new classic of the genre? We hope so. If you haven’t played the previous games, don’t panic, this chapter will only be a spiritual sequel with its own story.
8/ Alan Wake 2 – 2023 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
The first Alan Wake, released in 2010, left its mark on video game history with its extraordinary atmosphere and well-constructed gripping story. Twelve years later, the author returns with new adventures. Studio Remedy (Max Payne, Quantum Break, Control) is still at the helm and we can hope for an action/adventure game that will focus on narrative. In any case, we’ve been waiting a long time for this sequel!
7/ Assassin’s Creed Mirage – 2023 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
Assassin’s Creed is getting back to basics with Mirage. Say goodbye to huge open worlds and hundreds of side missions, as Mirage will take place in a single city. Ubisoft’s title will put us in the place of Basim, a character that has already appeared in Valhalla, and evolves us into 9th century Baghdad. Parkour and common sense assassinations are on the menu, just like in its golden age!
6/ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Fall 2023 (PS5)
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is eagerly awaited by all fans of Maison des Idées, will be the big game of 2023 for PS5. i.e. a huge open world to flap your wings in and engage in classic yet fierce combat. The only certainty is that two characters can be played: Peter Parker and Miles Morales. A distinguished guest will also take to the stage: a certain Venom…
5/ Resident Evil 4 Remake – March 24, 2023 (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
After Resident Evil 2 and 3, it is Resident Evil 4 that logically deserves a remake. The original game, released in 2005, shook up the small world of action/adventure with tense handheld camera gameplay. If its remake is logically less revolutionary, it will have the heavy duty of giving us back the senses of time. Resident Evil 4 is a big game, a really big game, so this reimagining will have to keep up with it. It puts us in the shoes of Leon Kennedy, an undercover agent who must rescue the daughter of the President of the United States, who is being held in an isolated village.
4/ Starfield – 2023 (PX, Xbox Series X/S)
Starfield is looking to sign off on Bethesda’s revival, becoming a key license for the next decade. Crazy claim from the developer trying to create the ultimate space adventure game. The title seems to take the winning formula from The Elder Scrolls and the latest Fallout to turn it into a “hard sci-fi” universe. The promise is huge: hundreds of worlds to explore, thousands of quests to complete, a massive open world and stunning graphics. Starfield holds all the cards to become one of the next great classics of video games, all that’s left is to transform the test.
3/ Diablo IV – June 6, 2023 (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
Evil is back! Eleven years after Diablo 3, Blizzard brings us back to Sanctuary in a work as dark as it is ambitious. The change is significant compared to previous chapters: we leave the build in levels for an open world that promises to be endless. The developer has already announced that great care will be taken to “endgame”, or maximum accessible content, with various events and new features added regularly. Diablo 4 wants to take back the crown and make it known for the ultimate hack and slash!
2/ Star Wars Jedi Survivor – March 17, 2023 (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
It’s been five years since Fallen Order and our Cal Kestis, who has just received a vial, must face a new threat. The game promises to be in line with its predecessor, a clever mix of genres with an emphasis on a labyrinth-level design. There will also be new features such as using a mount or slowing down time. Fallen Order created the surprise in 2019, Survivor must confirm that. Definitely one of the most anticipated games of 2023.
1/ Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – May 12, 2023 (Change)
All members of the editorial staff have their favorite games, the one they are most looking forward to from 2023. However, there is one game that everyone agrees on that consistently tops the list: Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Is this really a surprise? How does the Breath of the Wild slap work? This is a challenge for Nintendo, and what a challenge! In any case, the trailer suggests the same formula, but it reaches its climax. The big innovation can happen at two open world levels: an earthly world and a celestial world. Manipulation of time can also be at the center of the game. In any case, we’ll be there on D-Day, will you?
Of course, there are many other games we can expect in 2023, such as Dead Space Remake, Forza Motorsport 8, Octopath Traveler 2, Homeworld 3, Forspoken, Skull and Bones, STALKER 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Life of P… had to! yourself, in the comments, Feel free to let us know your expectations!
