The Elden Ring respect system uses Larval Tears to change your stats and level up differently, and while it’s not too complicated, it can be a battle to get there. There is a certain character that will allow you to show respect if you give him Larval Tear, but these items are hard to find and not easy to get to the character itself. Don’t worry – we’ll show you how to find it, pay for it and therefore respect the stats in Elden Ring and change your attributes accordingly. Be warned – there are minor spoilers for relevant parts of the game to follow.
How to be respected at Elden Ring
To respect your stats in the Elden Ring, you need to talk to a character named Renalla, the Queen of the Full Moon. However, Renalla isn’t just an average character – she’s a big boss in the game that needs to be defeated first, and at that point she’ll turn into a friendly NPC.
Renalla is at the highest point of the Raya Lucaria Academy of the Elden Ring, the massive magical structure in the center of the Liurnia of the Lakes, the watery realm north of Stormveil that opened up after defeating Godrick. Specifically, you’re looking for the Raya Lucaria Grand Library, the boss arena where Renalla fights (well, partly where she fights).
Once the boss fight is over, there will be a friendly NPC available to talk to in the library, offering you a chance to “Rebirth”, the game’s glorious honorific. This allows you to reallocate and redistribute all the levels you’ve earned so far as you wish, giving you the power to redesign your character from scratch. Do you want to reduce the importance of your strength and increase your Dexterity? Want to move from Intelligence to Faith? Here is the opportunity. Of course, if you want to know exactly what each feature does, we’ve covered the Elden Ring stats here.
The only problem is, every time you want respect, you will have to spend a rare and special item called Larval Tear. This is a job in itself.
Where can I find Elden Ring Larval Tears?
Larval Tears in Elden Ring are pretty rare and you probably won’t find many until very far into the game. However, there are some places you should check:
- There is a Larval Tear in the cemetery of the Albinauriks Village, south of the Academy.
- The merchant in the underground Siofra River will sell you a Larval Tear.
- Driving down the southwest side of the Three Sisters gardens, past Caria Mansion, will take you to a merchant named Pidia. He’ll sell you another Larval Tear.
- Numerous Larval Tears have been found around Nokron, the Eternal City. Nokron will be inaccessible until the Starscourge, the entrance to a massive crater south of Mistwood in East Limgrave, defeats Radahn. The Mimic Tear boss on Nokron is guaranteed to drop two of them.
- We’ve heard that Larval Tears have a chance to be dropped by some Silver Tear enemies (silver drop monsters) in Noxtrella. However, we have not yet confirmed this for ourselves.
Larvate Tears are rare enough so you have to be very careful with respects – make sure you want to commit one and you’re happy with the outcome. If the difference is just a few levels, it might be worth checking out our Elden Ring Rune farming locations and raising the stats you want instead.
