How to find and eat Tantas in Forspoken?

In short, Forspoken Tantas are the main enemies of the game. There are four in total, but you’ll only encounter three of them during Frey’s journey through Athia. The Abandoned Tantas are:

  • Tanta Sıla: It was found in Praenost in the southeast and has fiery Red Magic.
  • Tanta Prav: It was found in Avoalet in the south and uses water-based Blue Magic.
  • Tanta Olas: It is located in Visoria to the west and uses a mix of air and lightning attacks for Green Magic.

During Forspoken’s story, you’ll travel to each of the cities (also called realms) to face the Tantas, so there’s no chance of missing them and you don’t have to freely explore the open world to seek them out. Each is a challenging boss fight that will test your mastery of Frey’s magical abilities, but you’ll be rewarded with a new set of spells to expand Frey’s spell repertoire beyond Forspoken Purple Magic. These enchantment sets are shaped around an element such as fire or water and feature unique playstyles and abilities. For example, compared to Frey’s initial ranged, world-based magic, Tanta Sila’s magic focuses more on fierce melee attacks.

During boss fights, Tantas hit hard, attack relatively fast, and use attacks that are hard to block or completely unblockable. You’ll need to make sure you use your environment and parkour movement to stay out of danger, either by seeking cover or dodge deft attacks – be sure to fill your healing sac as well. As with many enemies in Forspoken, going head-to-head with opponents is rarely effective, so you’ll need to keep moving to hit the Tantas from behind or from the side. Tantas are also immune to many status ailments and effects, so try to use all your Support Spell abilities when starting Attack Spell spells to see which ones are most effective.

Who are the Abandoned Tantas?

Forspoken’s story isn’t quite as long as other Action RPGs, potentially lasting less than 30 hours. “How long has Forspeaked been?” here is the answer.

If it’s the Abandoned Tanta science you’re after, here’s what you need to know. The four Tantas – Sila, Prav, Olas, and Cinta – are the supremely powerful, magic-using rulers of Athia. They used to be fair and good leaders, but have since turned into oppressive tyrants as a result of the Break. They now head their own city in Athia, and Cipal is one of the last places in Athia that is safe from the Break.

They are central to the story, so you will learn a lot about them as you play and read the various lore entries available in the Archive menu. At the start of the game, it’s unclear whether Break led to Tantas’ return or Tantas themselves to Break, but you’ll learn more about this mystery and the world of Athia as you progress. The series of Tales of the Tantas lore records suggests that Tantas actually created Athia and built “realms, castles, and other wonders of all kinds” to keep the people happy. You may also have noticed that Tanta Cinta, the Tanta of Love and the ruler of Junoon, doesn’t have her own boss fight, and you’ll learn more about her as you play.
