Elden Ring with Friends announces multiplayer co-op

Elden Ring cluster and multiplayer allow you to discover and fight bosses with your friends, using callsigns and the Golden Statue to communicate online. This is a different system than the one used for NPC Elden Ring Summon, as this requires a few extra hoops to send invites and get players online.

The important thing to note is that the Elden Ring coop multiplayer system is somewhat restrictive and strictly focused, designed to direct all Tarnish towards a specific goal, usually a local boss fight. With that in mind, here’s how to play Elden Ring coop and multiplayer with friends, what it does, its penalties, and similar benefits.

To play Elden Ring in multiplayer with friends, players have to go through a few hoops first, as coop has its own limitations that need to be adjusted. In Elden Ring online multiplayer mode, one player acts as the “Host of Fingers” and then everyone else joins their world as a ghost player, effectively helping the server in everything they do.

1. To play with your friends, you will both need internet connections on your consoles/computers (and any subscription service you need like PS Plus for online play).
2. After doing that, you both need to open the game menu and go to the “Multiplayer” option.
3. Once there, select “Settings” and enter a Multiplayer Passcode. It can be anything, but as long as both you and your friends enter it correctly and it matches, that’s what counts. These passwords effectively allow you to only see each other, not millions of other players.
4. Now that this is done, any person who will not be a host must use a special item called Little Golden Statue marked in the multiplayer menu. Aka should do this except for the person who needs help in a boss fight or a difficult area. This will prompt a message saying “Sending Collaboration flag to the pooling pool”.
5. If you don’t have the Little Golden Statue, head back to the first area just outside the Stranded Graveyard, looking at the Tree Watch. There, he will be leaning on the area’s Martyr Bust. Speaking of which…
6. The landlord needs to find a small statue called the Martyr Statue, especially in the area where they need help. These are small, rampant statues with outstretched arms, often found at dungeon entrances or outside boss arenas.
7. Interact with the Little Golden Statue to open the summoning pool by revealing a symbol that will allow you to summon friends who are using it with matching passwords. You should now be able to fetch them!

Players brought to the Elden Ring as co-op gold Ghosts aren’t as strong as they were in their own world. They have half the number of Bottles they would normally have, and their stats are often weakened to keep two top players from crushing bosses for their lower level mates.

Coop is also triggered with a specific target in mind, also known as the boss of the area. Wherever the Host triggers the Martyr Statue, this effectively makes everything a quest. For example, if the hosts bring players to Stormveil Castle, the goal is to destroy the Castle boss, Grafted Godrick. Once this is done, the mission is over and the Ghosts are sent back to their game.

Elden Ring co-op supports up to three simultaneous players; a Host of Fingers and two golden Ghosts to support them. It’s also not cross-platform, so players can’t fight with friends on other consoles or computers.

Players who are happy to be summoned by anyone can use the multiplayer menu item called Tarnished’s Furled Finger right next to the Little Golden Statue. This places a gold symbol appearing in random players’ games where the player is standing, which can be triggered by them.

However, these symbols cannot be seen until the potential host uses an item called Furlcalling Finger Remedy on that menu – they are invisible and unavailable until they do. So if you want to summon allies use Furlcalling Finger Remedy and you will see symbols left by those who use Tarnished’s Furled Finger. Good thing these names are that simple.

As far as we can tell, the Elden Ring multiplayer collaboration unlocks after training is complete in Elden Ring, leaving Stranded Graveyard in the grassy land of Limgrave and the Lands Between. However, we don’t recommend triggering it just yet – the multiplayer set is based on objectives and you usually have to explore it within the first few hours. Still, look around for the Martyr Statues and take note of them so you know where to attract allies in a distress.
