“Why not Sir Jadeja?” – Aakash Chopra in Ravindra Jadeja is missing her Grade A+ contract

In India, the Cricket Control Board (BCCI) annual contract list excludes Ravindra Jadeja from the list of so-called Grade A+ players, with Aakash Chopra questioning this exception. Growing steadily over the past few years, Ravindra Jadeja is one of the few fixed picks in every Indian team regardless of the format. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah were all awarded A+ contracts, while Jadeja only received a Class A contract. According to Aakash Chopra, in a video he posted to his YouTube channel, Ravindra Jadeja should have been included in the trio of Rohit, Kohli and Bumrah on the A+ contract list. He observed:

“Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will receive rupees 7 crores. There is no change in that category. And I feel like why not Sir Jadeja? Sir Jadeja’s name should be on this list as well.”

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul Cricket-turned-cricketer commentator Aakash Chopra says they are expected to receive an upgrade to the highest contract in the next year. He detailed:

“I feel Ravindra Jadeja’s name will fall into the A+ category when the next contract renewal happens because his performance is so good. Its name is currently in Class A. I feel like Jadeja and KL Rahul’s name will go up to A+ next time.” Jadeja and Rahul should continue to be promoted to A+ Rating as long as they show their recent performance.

Aakash Chopra says Rishabh Pant has also been mentioned as one of the players that should be highly considered. He explained:

“After making Rishabh Pant vice-captain of the team, you placed him under KL Rahul. I believe both players should be promoted and placed in the top 7 crores. ”

The 44-year-old player highlighted that Suryakumar Yadav is the only newcomer to the list of contract players, while Axar Patel praised the rise of Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj. As Aakash Chopra reasoned:

“There is only one new contract player – this is Suryakumar Yadav. The three promoted players from Rank C to Rank B are Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj, which is fine. Axar Patel has had a great start to his Test career, Shreyas Iyer’s role has grown and Mohammed Siraj is a definite plus.”
