former cricketer Shahid Afridi Pakistan slammed Indian brisk Mohammad Shami for his controversial tweet after losing to England in the T20 World Cup 2022 final on Sunday, November 13. Shami’s tweet came as a surprise to many, as he usually did not involve himself in any replies or discussions.
Following the loss, former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar uploaded a post on Twitter containing a heartbreaking emoji. Responding to this, Shami said, “Sorry bro, this is the call.” Mixed.’ The response clearly did not go well with many, and there were even discussions organized over the tweet.
Afridi believes that cricketers who are role models for people should not engage in such activities. “We are cricketers, ambassadors and role models. We must try to finish them all. We are neighbors. We shouldn’t do things that feed hate. What can we expect from ordinary people if we start doing such things?” Afridi said Pakistani channel Samaa TV.

Shahid Afridi believes that sport can heal the strained relationship between the two countries. He said he would like to see the Indian team play in Pakistan. The 45-year-old player also stated that Shami, who is part of the current team, should avoid making such comments on social platforms.
“Our relationships are clearly improving through sport. We want to play with them and we want to see them play in Pakistan as well. Even if you’re retired, you shouldn’t be doing this. But you are part of the current team, you should definitely avoid such things.” said the former Pakistani captain.
