Garmin, the leading manufacturer of smart watches and fitness tracking devices, recently released a new update for the Venu 3 and Venu 3S models. But instead of updating, adding new features or fixing bugs, The electrocardiogram (ECG) function, one of the most popular features of these devices, has been removed.
The ECG feature allows users to measure their heart rate and detect irregularities such as atrial fibrillation. This feature was announced by Garmin last year and was expected to be available in the Venu 3 series after receiving regulatory approval. But, Users who installed the latest beta update reported that the ECG feature was lost on their devices.
Oddly, Garmin has not provided any explanation or notification regarding this change, nor has it provided users with a way to roll back to the stable version of the software where the ECG function is still enabled.
This isn’t the first time Garmin has removed a function from its smartwatches without warning. Last year, the company also disabled the ECG feature in the Fenix 7 series, which was also part of the beta program. Users who own both the Venu 3 and Fenix 7 series have reported that neither of their devices have ECG functionality anymore, which may lead some to turn to other manufacturers.
