More than two years after the arrival of the Pixel Buds Pro, Google is finally launching a new generation: the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Like their predecessors, these headphones want to be the best wireless headphones you can use with the company’s Pixel smartphones, thanks to some exclusive features.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 use a very similar design to the first generation, but now 27% smaller and lighter. Google assures us that they’ve made improvements to better fit the ears. A rotating stabilizer prominently pops up to ensure your headphones stay in your ears during gym sessions.

Everything in terms of sound is designed by Google. Each earbud has an 11mm dynamic driver. The headphones are compatible Bluetooth 5.4 and LE Audio.

Active noise reduction is at the forefront in this generation. Google now promises it’s twice as efficient as the previous generationwithout further ado. Each earbud features wind protection, speech recognition mode, and active in-ear pressure reduction to better capture your outside voice. We can also rely on a proximity sensor to pause your music when the earbuds are removed, touch sensors to capture your movements, and an accelerometer and gyroscope.

Battery life looks set to be generous, with the headphones offering 8 hours of battery life with noise cancellation enabled and 12 hours with noise cancellation enabled. The total will increase 30 hours of listening time with ANC, 48 hours with ANC disabledOn the charging side, the case, which is compatible with wireless charging, can provide 1.5 hours of battery life with a 5-minute charge.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 uses Tensor chip

The big news this year is, first of all, the presence of a Tensor A1 chip in the Pixel Buds Pro 2, a first for Google’s wireless headphones. The latter allows you to improve the sound transfer from your smartphone to the headphones in particular and offers some Google-exclusive features that will work provided you have a Pixel smartphone.

As for the price; The headphones are available for sale at a price of 249 euros. So it’s a bit more expensive than the original Pixel Buds Pro, which launched at 229 euros. It’s available in 4 different colors: Porcelain, Sage Green, Almond Green, Peony Pink. Pre-orders are currently open, but you’ll have to wait a few more days to try them out.
