WhatsApp has never really stopped adding new features. Regularly, beta testers reveal the availability of new features and changes coming to the instant messaging app. Recently, WhatsApp has integrated the possibility of listening to voice messages before sending them, while the interface dedicated to this feature has been completely revised, especially to facilitate navigation. Fingerprint lock has recently come to WhatsApp as well.

More specifically, the changes made will be at the notifications level. In its latest beta version, WhatsApp makes it easy to identify who is trying to contact you.
WhatsApp on iOS catches up to Android
In the effect, profile picture now appears next to message in notifications. Profile pictures can be displayed next to notifications not only for individual chats but also during group chats. Since this new feature uses APIs available in iOS 15, Profile pictures in notifications are currently only available to beta testers.
However, being a member of the WhatsApp beta testing program on iOS is not enough to access this new feature. Indeed, there is no guarantee that you will benefit from it, WhatsApp seems to only enable server side for certain user groups. As a reminder, this feature has been available to Android users for a while, and it’s an easy and straightforward way to know at a glance who’s behind this notification.
Like any feature in testing, it will likely take some time before the app arrives on iOS. As a reminder, a recently detected bug caused the app to crash on iPhone. The problem would come from the Meta servers. Still waiting for update.
