Tinder now lets you check if your match has a criminal record

Starting this week, Tinder users will have access to a built-in background check tool in the popular dating app’s Security Center. How does a background check work on Tinder?

Generally, Garbo only needs a person’s name and phone number to get information about them.. Garbo will then provide information on arrests and convictions for certain violent crimes and the status of the sex offender record.

The full criminal record of your match will not be accessible. Indeed, Tinder’s results will exclude arrests and convictions for financial crimes more than seven years old. Tinder is offering two free background checks for each user at launchand up to 500,000 free calls in total. Each call through Garbo costs $2.50. For now, the feature is only available in the United States, and Tinder hasn’t said whether it will roll out in other countries in the future.
